Dorothy E. “Dot” Gage, age 92, passed away peacefully February 1, 2012. She was born in Claybanks Township to Alfred and Bessie (Harjes) Peterson on September 23, 1919, but lived most of her life in Muskegon. She married Wilfred A. (Bill) Gage on June 25, 1938 and they spent 50 happy years together until his death in 1998. They owned Gage Insurance Agency and she worked side by side with him until retirement. Some of her happiest memories were volunteering together in Forest Home and Hope Reformed Church’s Bus Ministries. She attended Orchard View Congregational Church in her later years. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, grandchildren Diane VanderWall Prince and Larry G. Wierenga. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Beverly (Lyle) Wierenga and R. Elaine VanderWall, grandchildren Brian L. Wierenga, Lori (Matt) VanHoef and Scott VanderWall, great grandchildren Justin Wierenga, Samantha VanHoef, Chase VanHoef, and Jaycie Wierenga. According to her wishes a private memorial service was held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Orchard View Congregational Church.
