Ernest was preceded in death by: first wife, Bernice Manie; daughter, Terri Chan; and parents, Ernest Manie Sr. and Florence Manie.
Ernest is survived by: wife, Gayle Manie; children, Debra (Bob) Bennett of Fruitport, Bob (Cindy) Manie, and Kathy Larsen, all of Muskegon; son-in-law, Larry (Diane) Chan; 9 grandchildren, Stacey, Beth, Amy, Josh, Kelly, Terra, Chris, Cory, and Courtney; 13 great-grandchildren, Bradley, Caroline, Annabelle, Maddie, Jayden, Nolan, Ryder, Rowan, Renner, Maverick, Jersey, April, and Brian; as well as, 1 great-great-grandchild, Addilyn.
Ernest proudly served his country in the United States Navy for several years. He worked for many years as a machine operator, until he eventually retired. He was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church. He enjoyed camping and traveling around to new places. He loved to collect things, especially coins and eagle statues and other memorabilia. He also liked to spend his time going to antique shops. He held many passions throughout his life, but his greatest were his grandchildren, his grandchildren were his whole world. Ernest was a special man to many people. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a Memorial Service with Military Honors on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 am at Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 E. Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442. There will be a public visitation one hour prior to the service. As well as, a luncheon to follow. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
