

He was born on October 26, 1927 in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. He was the fifth son of six sons and five daughters born to Charles and Emma (Hanson) Swarvar. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and enlisted into the US Army serving his country during WWII in the 25th infantry division in Japan. In 1950, he married Beverly Jean Gilmore. They spent 61 years together before Beverly passed away on July 14, 2011. Beverly and Gene lived the American Dream: traveling, cruises, fishing and golfing, just enjoying life. In 1990, after 36 years, as a land surveyor, he retired. He also worked as a surveyor in Dallas, Texas, had a real estate license in Michigan and Texas, and as he was taught by his father, worked as a carpenter in Plano, Texas for awhile.
He is survived by: his sons, Kenneth Swarvar, and Dr. Daniel Swarvar; daughter, Laura (Dave) Korndorfer; grandsons, Robert Swarvar, Orrie Korndorfer, Jesse Korndorfer; granddaughter, Shandon Swarvar; great grandson's, Landen Korndorfer, Octavius Van Eck; many special nieces and nephews; and "Sweetie" an orphaned cat.
He was preceded in death by: wife, Beverly; son, Jeffery; five brothers; five sisters; and his parents.
According to his wishes, a private graveside service was held at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Pastor Terry Fulk officiating.
In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and the Salvation Army Church of Muskegon.
