

Evelyn Rose Smith, age 73, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025. Born on November 17, 1951, in Fremont, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of Basil LeRoy Hill and Lamberta Evelyn (Eaves) Hill.
Evelyn attended Fremont High School and, throughout her early years, explored many different jobs before finding her true calling at Quality Farm & Fleet. It was there she discovered her love for helping customers, always ensuring they left with a smile. It was also where she met the love of her life, Dennis Smith. The two were married on July 19, 1997, and shared 28 beautiful years together.
Evelyn and Dennis created a beautiful life together in Muskegon, filled with warmth, love, and laughter. They cherished the adventures they shared, particularly their memorable trips to Kansas and the breathtaking landscapes of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Evelyn was truly a gem, known for her gentle spirit and infinite kindness. Every holiday was infused with her thoughtful touches, but the anniversary celebrations held a special place in her heart, as they symbolized her deep love and gratitude for the life they built together.
At her core, Evelyn was a homebody who found joy in the simple yet profound moments of life. She loved solving crossword puzzles, nurturing her family, and ensuring that everyone around her felt cherished and valued. Her family meant everything to her, especially her beloved husband Dennis and their son, who were her greatest treasures. Evelyn’s legacy of love and support will always be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Smith; her loving son, Ronald (Sara, special friend) Partlow; and her cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Rylan. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Lamberta Hill.
A Catholic Memorial Mass is scheduled for Monday, June 23, 2025, at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception, located at 196 W Webster in Muskegon, Michigan. The service will begin at 10:00 AM and will be officiated by Father Kyle Kilpatrick. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the mass. A luncheon reception will follow the service, and burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Evelyn’s warmth, compassion, and gentle soul will be remembered always.
