Gloria Jean Brown, age 89 of Muskegon, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was born on May 8, 1926 in Muskegon to Fred and Jennie Todd. Gloria was an amazing lady and will be missed by many. Those who knew her best would say she embodied the hallmark character “Maxine”, who is known to bring a smile to many faces with her sarcastic humor and her spunky personality. Gloria loved spending time with her family. Every year she would pack up the car, with her late husband, and travel to Colorado to visit her son. Gloria also loved to guess the prices of everyday household items with Bob Barker from her living room, while watching the Price is Right. A perfect evening for Gloria would include a night of gambling at the casino, where she could be found by the slot machines. She was once a member of the White Lake Eagles and the Whitehall American Legion, where she obtained many lifelong friends. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 50 years, Lester Brown; her 3 sisters, Grace, Gail, and Gladys; and her brother, Fred. She will be lovingly missed by her children, Linda (Ron) Cooper, and Edward (LaVonne) Brown; her grandchildren, Bryan, and Sandra; her great grandchildren, Caroline, Victoria, Nicole, and Joseph; and many extended family members and friends. Per Gloria’s wishes, there will not be any services taking place. Because of her love of animals, Gloria would have wished memorial contributions be made to the Muskegon Humane Society; 2640 Marquette Avenue in Muskegon.
