

Gregory Scott (Barr) Katzenbach, age 58, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025. He was born on May 21, 1967 to Kenneth Louis Barr Sr. & Carol J. (Katzenbach) Orcutt and had resided in the Muskegon area most of his life. Greg attended Orchard View High School (Class of ‘85) and served in the United States Army.
Greg was an entrepreneur at heart, spending many years running his own businesses – most of which were related to construction. He loved outdoor sports, especially riding dirt bikes, jet skis, motorcycles, and the like. He was a huge football fan and embraced all that came with being a lifelong Lions fan. Greg also loved spending time with friends and family sitting around a bonfire.
Greg is survived by 3 children, James “Jimmy” Barr, Chris Thompson, Nick (Berkly) Katzenbach; former wives, Sherri (Beall) Barr, Becky (May) Katzenbach, 6 grandchildren, Ciarra, Alex, Harper, Brody, Oakley, Kaycee; dad, Ken Barr Sr., sisters, Becky (Mark) Osowski, Shelly (Rick) Quintero, Jodi MacDonald, Cecelia Barr; brothers, Chuck (Kim)Orcutt, Vince Barr, Ken (Samantha) Barr Jr., Robert “Bobby” Orcutt II; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Greg was preceded in death by his mom, Carol J. (Katzenbach) Orcutt, stepdad, Robert “Bob” Orcutt, son, Robert “Robbie” Katzenbach, sister, Dayna G. Orcutt, and brother-in-law Jeff MacDonald.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made in Greg's name to the Sepsis Alliance, American Lung Association, or another charity focusing on pneumonia/sepsis prevention, treatment, or advocacy. Monetary donations may also be made to the Michigan Donor Family Council (MDFC) to support its mission of saving lives by promoting organ, eye, and tissue donation.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 16 from 4-7 pm at the VFW on Apple Avenue in Muskegon.
