Jack Maurice Dirheimer, aged 89, passed away on July 24, 2014. He was born on September 18, 1924 to Sereno and Reva (Chappell) Dirheimer. He graduated from Flint Central in 1942, and joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. He married Lois Hoch in 1946, and together the two would raise their family. Surviving are his wife Lois, and their children; Jo Ann (Darrell) Boyd, Jackie (Bruce) McLeod, Dennis (Dawn) Dirheimer, Jean (Gary) Roberts, caregiver Rebecca Hoch and eleven grandchildren; Denise, Jason, Jarred Dirheimer, Kevin Boyd, Chris, Kurt Koches, Ryan, Brandon, Trevor, Jessica Dirheimer, and Collin Roberts, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Fred Dirheimer, brother Bernie Ockaski, granddaughters Kristen Dirheimer Proctor, Dawn Boyd, and great-granddaughter Ella Rose Dirheimer. Jack retired as Muskegon Heights assistant City Engineer where he had worked for over 29 years. He was active with the Muskegon Heights Eagles, Temple United Methodist Church, the Boy Scouts of America, and attended Muskegon Community College. Jack also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and although conservative with his money, he certainly enjoyed a trip to the casino. A memorial service will take place at 11:00am on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Lakeshore Lutheran Fellowship Church (16790 Van Wagoner St, Spring Lake) with military honors. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00am. In Lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Temple United Methodist Church or Muskegon Harbor Hospice.
