John J. Howell

Mr. John J. Howell, age 77, passed away on, June 9, 2010. He was born on April 5, 1933 to Carl J. and Dena L. (Anderson) Howell and married Violet (Newfer) on August 25, 1962 in Muskegon. John graduated from Whitehall High School in 1952, and had worked at S.D. Warren/Kimberly Clark for 38 years before retiring. He served his country in the U.S. 8th Army unit as an M.P. during the Korean War. John was a life member of VFW Post 446, life member of FOE Aerie 668 in Muskegon. He was also a committee member for the Boy Scouts of America Troop #1007 at Oakview School in Muskegon. John enjoyed spending time with his family and hobbies. John is survived by his wife, Violet; 2 sons, John C. (Sally) Howell and James R. Howell both of Muskegon; granddaughter, Tracey Howell of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and beloved uncles; Warren Howell and Orville, and Melvin Anderson. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel with Pastor Michael Borgert, from First Christian Reformed Church officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Michigan or the DAV.
