John Lawrence Mitchell

John was born April 21, 1945. He married Sheryl Olson on July 19, 1969 and together they were blessed with a son, and 54 years of marriage. John served his country in the US Army and the US Marines. He was a talented musician his entire life. John was a member of the American Legion, VFW post 7729, Fruitport Eagles, and the Lithuanian Club. He enjoyed old cars, going to the casino, music, and going for car rides with his wife. He was an independent, loving jokester. He was outgoing but also enjoyed being alone with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed.

John is survived by: his wife, Sheryl; son John (Stacy) Mitchell; grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Jamison, Ben, Allison( Lucas); sisters, Margie (Joey) Szykowski, and Maureen Tiedt; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Margaret Tiedt; father, James Mitchell; step-father, Wilford Tiedt; brothers, Robert Tiedt, Edward Tiedt, and Jim Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Alan Tiedt.

A Celebration of life will take place on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 1-4 PM with a eulogy and Military honors at 1pm at the VFW post 7726, 6285 E Apple Avenue.
