Judy was born in Muskegon MI on November 16, 1956. Although Judy’s life began and ended in Michigan it took her on wild adventures fueled by her joyful spirit. Her international travel resume holds stories of pyramids in Egypt; diving in Israel, Maldive Islands, Malta, Grand Cayman Islands and the Caribbean Islands; Skiing, hiking and bicycling through Honduras, Austria, Italy, France, Denmark, Ireland, Ibiza, Spain and living in Switzerland, Germany and Kenya. Judy’s love for bicycling leaves trails of memories across the entire United States. Whether it was a solo adventure, a sunset walk at Pier Marquette, or vacation planned for family, she would always have a joyful “yes” to adventure. Most importantly, Judy left a testimony of joy, independence, and beautiful simplicity in each place she left.
Judy loved to see the world, and that included her own backyard. As a proud graduate of University Michigan (1979) Judy practiced dental hygiene in Muskegon. She found her real passion in serving others through sharing her love of adventure with the Earth’s Edge family, volunteering, baking for anyone she knew, and reminding you to slow down, unplug and enjoy the view.
Ms. Judy is preceded in death by her father, Harold Juergens; and her mother, Doretta B. Juergens. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her former husband, Micheal McMahon and their children, Kelly (Max, Deven) Striker, and Kacey (Rachel) McMahon, brothers:Ted, Tom and Eric Juergens, six nieces and nephews; and three cherished grand nieces and nephews who affectionately refer to her as “Aunt Jood”.
Judy touched countless lives on her adventure. Her family and friends invite you to a visitation and memorial service at Kingdom Life church (1215 E Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442) on Saturday, February 25, from 11am-1pm with food to follow. Following the service, and in true Judy fashion, a celebration of life bonfire will take place to share stories, memories and fellowship of our beloved mother, aunt, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Project of Muskegon.
