It is with great sadness that the family of “Uncle” Keith Lamont Chatman announces his passing after a long battle with cancer, on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the age of 73 years. He was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky, and attended the Kentucky School for the Deaf. He was the 4th of 5 children and loved bowling, playing pool, baseball, basketball, and football. Uncle Keith will be lovingly remembered by his nephew and his immediate family, Chris, Patti, Brittany, and Andrew D’Avignon, whom were also his caretakers for the last fifteen years.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, James Rilie Chatman (1986) and mother, Opal Geneva (Carroll) Chatman (1993), brother, Alvin Paul Chatman (1994) and his sister, Linda Sue (Chatman) D’Avignon (2005), also preceded in death by her husband, George D’Avignon (1999).
Keith is survived by his sister, Alice (Dan) Gilbert; sister-in-law, Christine Chatman; brother, Calvin (Joyce) Chatman; sons, Kenneth, Robert, and James Chatman; grandsons, Keith Richard Chatman, Austin Lee Cherry, James Tyler Chatman; Nephews, Christopher (Patti) D’Avignon, Andrew D’Avignon, Jamie Crowell, Ricky Chatman, Danny Chatman, and Eugene Chatman; nieces, Kimberly (Matt) Mrotz, Brittany D’Avignon, Yvette Chatman, Yvonne Chatman, Kayla Widing, Marissa Crowell, Rebecca (Chatman) Dillon, Andrea (Chatman) Ginn, Farrah (Chatman) Greiner; and many special cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life in memory of Keith will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Fraternal Order of Eagles. We plan to celebrate as Uncle Keith would love, so please represent your favorite sports team and wear comfortable clothes.
