Larry W. Basch, age 74, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Larry had several hobbies which included camping, watching sports – especially the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Nascar. He also enjoyed reading the daily newspaper. He served in the United States Army for two years and later was a truck driver for Midland Grocery and a volunteer firefighter. Larry was a story teller and will be remembered for saying, “Let me tell ya a story!” Larry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Ruth Basch; children: Larry Jr., Jeff (Dawn) Basch, Jeanne (Nicholas) Giangacomo, Jill Basch and Adam; grandchildren: Nicole Basch, Nathan Basch, Cecelia Giangacomo, Nicholas Giangacomo; siblings: Pat (Robert) Kelley, Dennis (Donna) Basch, David (Keil) Basch, Bill Basch; brother-in-law, Robert (Terry) Nelson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents, brothers: Bernard (Barbara, surviving), Charles (Charlene, surviving), Lester (Monica, surviving). A funeral service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church (1206 Whitehall Rd., Muskegon) on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 11:00am with Pastor Bill Uetricht officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00am. A luncheon will follow at the church. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
