Lorraine J. Stuart, passed away at the age of 86, in Muskegon on December 7, 2018. Lorraine (aka Lulla by immediate family and those from her original home town), was born Lorraine Joyce Larson to Carl O and Cecile (Saures) Larson of Evansville, MN on February 23, 1932 on the family farm. Lorraine was the eldest of 6 children. She had attended Evansville Public School. Following graduation, she set out on her first adventure by leaving the small farming community and her family home to attend lab school in the big city. Following the completion of lab school, Lorraine set out for her next adventure by leaving Minnesota to accept her first position in a lab at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, Michigan. In 1954, Lorraine would marry Richard W. Stuart, and they would raise 3 children together. Daughters, Dawn and Cassandra (Sandy), and a son, Richard (Rich). Her children were the sunshine of her life. She would later change positions by working in the lab at the Osteopathic Hospital of Muskegon Heights. After the hospital closed its doors, Lorraine then went to work for Ronald Chusid DO in Muskegon until she retired. After retirement, Lorraine filled her days with family, church, growing her flowers, bowling, Curves and tanning. She loved people and often spent her Sunday’s visiting and assisting elders in her community.
She had been an active member of Grace Christian Reformed Church for many, many years and had also participated in the Ladies Guild. Pastor Marvin had faithfully visited Lorraine during her stay at the Sanctuary of the Parks, as did her friend Jack Rosencrans.
Preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers, Ronald (Lois Anderson) Larson, Harold Larson and Dennis Larson, and sister in law Judy. Husband, Richard W. Stuart. Daughter, Dawn L. Stuart of Muskegon.
Survived by her son, Richard C. (Rich) Stuart of Muskegon. Daughter, Cassandra (Gerald) Rozeboom of Fremont, Michigan. Granddaughters, Jamie (Troy) Wiseley of White Cloud, Michigan. Renee (Kenneth) Cooley of Hesperia, Michigan. Nicole Redinger of Big Rapids, Michigan and Julie (Chad) Wittingen of Sheridan, Michigan. Great grandchildren Austin Cooley, Steven Brown III, Trevor Cooley, Desiree Cooley, Kailey Redinger, Brayden Redinger, Colten Brown and Cole Wittingen. Also survived by her 2 sisters, Janice (Rudy) Johnson of Minnesota and Wanda (Marvin) Rosten of Fort Morgan, CO, sister-in-law, Lois (Anderson) Larson of Evansville, MN and sister-in-law, Beverly Copher, along with many nieces and nephews.
She will have a Celebration of Life at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 on Friday December 14, 2018 at 3 P.M. with luncheon to follow.
