Marilyn Pappas went home to be with Her Lord and Savior on November 15, 2019. Marilyn was born May 11, 1937 to Helen and Stephen Frendreiss in Chicago, Illinois. She was proceeded in death by her husband Louis on January 23, 2014. They were married on August 23, 1975 in Park Ridge, Illinois and loved each other dearly. Marilyn leaves behind her two children, Deborah (Charles) Gebbia of St. Louis, Missouri and Carolyn (Timothy) Timmer of East Jordan, Michigan. Her sisters, Arlene Stewart of Muskegon, Michigan and Connie (John Nendza) of Benzonia, Michigan were a very important part of her life and shared many adventures together as only sisters could share. Her brother Robert Frendreiss preceded her in death in 2005. She has seven grandchildren Stephen Szpila of Chicago, Illinois, Nicole (Paul) Potter of Jenison, Michigan, Stephanie (Dwight) Nash of Aurora, Illinois, Laura (Scott) Zablocki of Carol Stream, Illinois, Catherine (Phil) McIntire of Bend, Oregon, Timothy Timmer II of Charlevoix, Michigan and Megan (Dylan) Alan of Oakland Park, Florida. She has left nine great grandchildren Emily Potter, Jared Potter, Sarah Potter, Natalie Potter, Amy Timmer, Madelyn Nash, Elias Nash, Stella Zablocki and Clayton Zablocki. She also leaves behind nine step-children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who have always had a very special place in her heart.
She also leaves behind many dear friends who adored her kind, compassionate and loving spirit.
She graduated from Josephenum High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1955. She held secretarial/business positions until she entered the medical field as a nurse’s aide. She thrived in her work and found her passion in caring for others. She retired from Tri County Orthopedics in 2007.
She was a board member of the Father Jack Foundation, an organization that helped the working poor meet their basic needs as well as strengthening the family structure.
The family would like to thank Poppen Hospice House for their compassionate caregiving during Marilyn’s journey to the Lord. No words can be expressed to show our appreciation for the expertise, gentle kindness and loving hearts we experienced. The support and love we experienced is a gift we will never forget.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
A Celebration of Marilyn’s life is being planned for May 16, 2020 with more information to come at a later date.
