
Marjorie Agnes Gould of Muskegon passed away October 18, 2014. She was born on October 1, 1915 in Ludington, Michigan to the late Emmett and Ruth (Bland) McDonald. On June 27, 1941 she married Sherwood “Shorty” Gould in Ludington. She was primarily a homemaker, and also was an accomplished seamstress; quilt maker, knitter, and enjoyed trying her hand at handicrafts of all kinds. When her children were of school age, she was very involved in PTA, Cub Scouts, and 4-H activities. She worked for many years in the Jolman and Orchard View School systems, beginning as a crossing guard, then a teacher’s aide, and then in the lunch programs, from which she retired in 1969. Marge also enjoyed dancing and usually went with her husband and the Country-Western band that he played in, especially if they were playing at a square dance. In later years, she loved spending time with good friends in the Baldwin area, where she and Shorty had a mobile home. Survivors include daughter, Sharon (Charles Brian) Gould, son, Larry (Marva) Gould; five grandchildren, Gregory (Linda) Gould, Christopher and Gavin Gould, Dana (Steve) Groothuis and Timothy (Kim) Gould; two step-grandchildren, Dana (Gary) Moore, and Robin Stromberg; seven great-grandchildren, Holly, Casey, Caleb and Avery Gould, Marissa and Bradley Groothuis, and Elijah Gould; 1 step-great-grandchild, Ashley Nousain and two step-great, great grandsons, Braydon and Ethan Nousain; a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence McDonald of Ludington. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel (1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Christian Care Assisted Living or Harbor Hospice of Muskegon.
