Mary Lou (McClatchy) Christian left her earthly body on Monday, January 24, 2022. Mary Lou was born in Ludington, Michigan on May 7, 1940 to parents, Sophia and Ernest McClatchy, and two brothers; Ronald James and Ernest William (Alice). The family moved to East Muskegon in 1941 and Mary Lou was a proud graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central and Mercy School of Nursing. She married Gordon Christian in 1960 and they were married for 12 years. Together they had five children; Gordon (Laura) Christian, John Christian, Julie (Dennis) Geeting, Walter (Ginger) Christian, and Kathleen (Mike) Rohlman.
Mary Lou was a proud Licensed Practical Nurse and had a full career of caring for hundreds of people in all phases of life. She was an active member of her parish, St. Michael the Archangel as well as the Cursillo Movement. Since the 1980’s, Mary Lou’s life was strengthened and nurtured by many individuals in 12 Step Recovery. She is survived by her beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special people Julie Skodack and James Cripe.
Mary Lou’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1716 6th St., Muskegon, MI 49441). A visitation will take place from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 with a prayer service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Lou’s name can be made to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church or Harbor Hospice.
