I have been bringing Holy Communion to DeBoer Nursing Home (Lake Woods) for the past 13 years and cannot actually remember how long Mary has been there. I enjoyed visiting with her every Sunday to read the gospel and bring her communion. Mary was always sweet and so happy to receive Jesus in the Eucharist, even as recent as last Sunday, May 26th. That day she was very weak and I could tell she would not be in this world for long. I told her I thought she would be joining Jesus soon and asked her if she was ready. She replied "yes," she was ready. I also asked her if she was afraid, to which she replied, "no." I told her Jesus loves her very much and He would be waiting with His arms outstretched to embrace her in His heavenly embrace. She smiled. She received communion and quietly fell back to sleep. I enjoyed visiting Mary every week for many years. She was a lovely woman. I will miss my visits with her, but, I know she was a woman of great faith, very much in love with God. I feel confident that God has welcomed her into His heavenly kingdom, where she will enjoy His mercy and love free of pain and discomfort. Rest in peace, Mary.
