

Mary was born on December 6, 1951, in Muskegon, a cherished daughter of Ellsworth Bont and Ruth Carlson (later Gibbs). She graduated from Orchard View High School in 1970, stepping into a world where she would leave a lasting impact on many. With a heart that overflowed with kindness and compassion, Mary dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Her work in several nursing homes brought her deep fulfillment as she lovingly tended to elderly individuals, bringing comfort and companionship to those in need.
On October 21, 1982, Mary joyfully married her beloved Reginald Workman. Their union blossomed into a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories, creating a warm and nurturing home that reflected the depth of their bond.
Mary embodied a profound love for her family, always eager to extend a helping hand. She found joy in movies, dancing, and exciting trips to the casino with her loved ones. Her vibrant spirit, generous nature, and lively personality illuminated the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Reginald Workman, and her children: Jamie Stapleton, Amanda Workman, and Krista Stapleton. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Kaylee Stapleton, Landon Stapleton, Ruth Stapleton, Patrick Stapleton, Savannah Krbez, and Connor Krbez; as well as her dear sister, Patricia Bont.
Mary is reunited in heaven with her parents, Ruth Gibbs (Carlson) and Ellsworth Bont; her sister Ruth Bont; and her brother Timothy Bont.
In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Ever Rest Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Carlos Ramos. Mary Lou Workman leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration, and she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
