Nancy Bartels

Harriett “Nancy” Bartels, age 93 of Muskegon, passed away Wednesday, January 06, 2016. She was born on January 17, 1922 in Fennville, MI to Thomas and Clara Kiess. Nancy married Cornell P. Bartels on January 16, 1942. She was a homemaker until her children moved out of the home. She then worked various retail jobs, including the paint department of Sears. Nancy enjoyed crocheting, knitting, plastic needlepoint, and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her children, William and Andrew Bartels. Nancy is survived by her children, Peter (Sharon) Bartels, and Susan Hamilton; her grandchildren, Brian, Daniel, Angela, Rebekah, Delores, Lynn, Tom, Mike, Jake, Jessie, Stacey, Chelsea, and Tony; many great grandchildren; a special friend, Nick VanderBerg; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A service for Nancy will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11am at Fifth Christian Reformed Church; 2330 Holton Road in Muskegon. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am. Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
