

Mother Jones was born on January 21, 1935 to the union of Carrie Mae Williams and Richard Sturdivant in Lowndes County, Mississippi. She was the youngest of four children. She married John Allen Jones on April 17, 1954. To that union she was blessed with two children, Leonard Arthur Jones and Diane Jones.
The family migrated to Michigan in 1962. After many years as a homemaker, she earned her CNA certificate and eventually retired from Seaway Convalescent Home. She was a hard worker and would often work multiple jobs to provide for her children.
Queen confessed Christ at an early age at Pepper Hill Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi. Mother Jones was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist church for over 40 years. She was an active member of the Mother's Board.
As a mom, grandmother and aunt, she loved spending time with her family, traveling, shopping at yard sales, and playing games with her neighbors. She enjoyed going to church and traveling with her church family.
She is preceded in death by her mother Carrie Mae Williams, father Richard Sturdivant, three brothers Freddy B. Sturdivant, Freddie Lee and Arthur Lee Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Leonard A. Jones, and a daughter Diane Jones, both of Muskegon, Michigan. One sister Leanna (Snow) Wilson of Kankakee, Illinois, 13 grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, a special cousin Ruby Ann Hodo of Ethelsville, Alabama and Christian family members.
There will be a Funeral Service held on December 18, 2021 at 12:00pm at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel. A Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Mona View Cemetery.
