Robert proudly served his country in The United States Navy and served during Vietnam. During his working years he held several different positions at different factories in the Muskegon area. He was strong in his faith and a proud Christian. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the guitar. He and several of his friends would play christian music together at different nursing homes in the area. Robert was a social butterfly who loved to talk, and could make friends anywhere he went. He was loving, kind, and always there for those who needed him. He will be dearly missed.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee Calkins; parents, Charles and Agnes Calkins; sisters, Maxine Vender, and Joyce Reynolds; and brothers, Charles Calkins, and Raymond Calkins.
Robert is survived by his sister, Lucille Durgan, and many nieces and nephews.
