

Robert E. Hutchins, age 73, peacefully slipped away from this life on May 18, 2012. Hutch was born January 31, 1939 in Muskegon to the late Earl and Louise Hutchins. Having attended many schools he graduated from Ravenna High School in 1957. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and after his honorable discharge came back to Muskegon and married his grade school sweetheart, Carol Bowman on July 28, 1962. Hutch was employed at Sealed Power where he worked for 34 years before retiring in 1996. Being someone who had to stay busy, he worked part time at Select Manufacturing. Over the years Robert became a charter member of the East Muskegon Lions Club, a charter member of the Muskegon Snow Busters and spent 15 years in the Boy Scouts as Cub Master, Webelos Leader, then Scout Master. Some of his fondest memories were of scout camping trips. Robert was also an avid fisherman and could be seen out on Muskegon Lake in his boat the “Perch Predator.” He loved to dance, listen to country music and play with his grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by an infant daughter Pamela Sue. Robert is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Carol; son Tracy (Sis) Hutchins of El Cajon, California, daughter Teresa Winebrenner and grandchildren, Veronica and Benjamen Winebrenner of Holland, Michigan; and son Andrew (Linda) Hutchins and granddaughters Kaitlyn and Bailey Hutchins of Rockford, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012. Visitation will be held one hour before the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mothers March of Dimes.
