Rosemary Kartes Pastucha Troyanowski passed on to her eternal home on December 21, 2020. During her 93 years in this world she was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She truly valued people, and those God gave her were loved well. Rosemary was born November 15, 1927 in Muskegon, the second child of John and Regina Kartes. Early-on, her family endearingly shortened her name to "Sis" and this is how she would be known throughout her life. She lived all her life in Muskegon, graduating from St. Joe's, marrying Francis Pastucha, and becoming the devoted mother of seven children. After 24 years of marriage she became a widow and, two years later, the wife of Jerry Troyanowski, inheriting two precious daughters. After another 24 years of marriage, Rosemary found herself a widow for a second time.
Her bright spirit and love of people created a warmth that those around her were priviledged to enjoy. It was impossible to spend time with her and not find yourself laughing, eating, and feeling loved. She had a deep love of Jesus Christ and this showed true in the love she gave to her family and friends and her eager welcoming of new "friends." Her ever-present adventurous nature bloomed when she developed a friendship with Ray Heffron. The two of them made several cross-country road trips, in all kinds of weather, never-minding the consternation of 9 adult children. This friendship, too, would be cut short when Ray unexpectedly passed away. She also endured the loss of her mom and dad and big brother, James Kartes, grandmother Mary "Mother" Mathieu, son-in-law Richard Otzman, son-in-law Steve Botbyl, great grand-daughter Addison Snyder, and brother-in-law John "Jack" O'Malley, as well as many Kartes, Pastucha, and Troyanowski relatives. She is survived by her sister Barbara "Bobby" O'Malley, children Steven Pastucha, Linda Blais (Matthew Witkowski), Pamela Pastucha-Craymer (Daniel), Joseph Pastucha (Robin), Mary Steiner, Francis Pastucha (Denita), Regina Otzman, Christine Davies (Michael), and Teresa Ardis (Jeffery). She was Grandma to 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Many that came to know her in her later years would quickly call her "Grandma" and this she dearly loved. She also had many neices and nephews and cared deeply for each one. She was especially blessed to have close relationships with her four neices that knew her as "Aunt Sis."
Alzheimer's Dementia would eventually rob her of her memory, voice and mobility. It tried to take her smile but did not fully suceed, as up to the end her eyes could still crinkle just-so, so that you were sure she was still smiling at you, as she touched your cheek and brushed the hair back from your face. She was cared for at Chestnut Fields for the past 12 months with support from Spectrum Health Hospice. Her family wishes to express heart-felt gratitude for all the love and care that was given to Rosemary during this time of pandemic isolation. God has taken her home. Although we weep, our hearts are filled with joy for her as her journey is complete. She is a treasure that God is storing-up for us in heaven.
"Enter His gates with thansgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100: 4-5
A Celebration of Rosemary's life will take place in the spring of 2021.
