

Shirley M. Peters, 95, died on Saturday September 23 at her Seminole Shores residence in Norton Shores, MI. Shirley was born August 29, 1922 in Ecorse, MI to George and Alma Seleske. Shirley was a WWII Navy veteran (WAVES), the women’s branch of the Navy Reserves. She was stationed in San Diego, CA from 1944 to 1946 as a stenographer for a Submarine Repair Unit. Shirley was honored with the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. She is included in the World War II Veteran exhibit at the Silversides Submarine Museum, Muskegon, MI. Following military service, Shirley married the love of her life, Bob Peters. Bob served in WWII as a Force Recon Marine Gunnery Sergeant. They had 3 children and lived in the Detroit area until 1977 when they moved to Ft. Myers FL. Shirley stayed in Ft. Myers until moving to Norton Shores, May 2011. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob (1994) and granddaughter Erin Farragh (1989). She is survived by daughter Lynn (Leo) Montroy; son Gary; daughter Gail (David) Farragh; grandchildren Michael (Nicole) Montroy; Mark (Wendy) Montroy; Jason Peters; Derek (Daphney) Peters; Tony (Charlotte) Farragh and Megan Farragh. Great grandchildren Gabriel Montroy, Cailey Peters and Harper Farragh. A Memorial Service with military honors will be offered for Mom, Grandma, GG on October 14th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick St. Anthony Catholic Church. Address: 920 Fulton St, Grand Haven, MI 49417.
