It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and an uncle to many. Andy was predeceased by his parents, 13 siblings and eldest daughter Debbie. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Emily, daughter Carrie (Bob), son Barry (Sandra), grandchildren Robert (Susan), Angela, David (Alana), Craig (Angel), Brandon (Dana) Emma (Alex), great grandchildren Cadence, Sierra, Hazel, Gus and Luke.
Andy was born and raised in the Torquay, Saskatchewan area where he developed a life long love of horses growing up on his family farm. Torquay is also where he met the love of his life, Emily, they married in 1952, honeymooned on Vancouver Island and decided to stay and make it their home.
Andy was devoted to his family and a ‘favourite’ uncle to many nieces and nephews. He worked as a longshoreman for many years and then traveled extensively upon retirement. He enjoyed boating, riding his ‘Gold Wing’ motorcycle and spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona as a snowbird. Emily arranged for him to meet the racehorse ‘Secretariat’ and it was an experience he treasured.
A true gentleman, he will be terribly missed and remembered for his fierce love of family, dependability and generosity. We are comforted that he is now reunited with his eldest daughter Debbie.
A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated caregivers at Eden Gardens for their loving support.
