Cathy Ruth Pearson

Cathy passed away peacefully at home on January 6th after a brief fight with cancer. She spent her early years on the lower mainland, and moved to Protection Island in the 90’s. She had a vibrant career that saw her work for the government, various employment agencies and eventually cumulated with a 20+ year career at Worksafe BC where she established a reputation of being solid, knowledgeable and helpful, always looking for the best way to support those in her care.

Cathy was known for her sharp mind and her love of gardening. While on Protection Island she spent years developing her private oasis that will live on without her. She was caring and generous with her time to those she saw as in need of her help, and would often be found helping write proposals or plans for friends that requested her guidance. In her later years she could be found playing cards, visiting with her friends, planning trips, watching figure skating and enjoying home renovation shows.

Cathy was predeceased by her husband of 32 years Steve, her mother Sherran and her step-father Bernie. She is survived by her brothers Irv, Randy and Eddie, her sister Cindy, daughter Trika, son Troy and her granddaughter Ember, as well as many friends and beloved extended family.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Brookswood Baptist Church, 20581 36th Ave, Langley BC on Saturday, March 9th at 1pm. Refreshments will be provided after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
