Garry passed away at home, the night of January 21, surrounded by his family, sons Darin and his wife Karen, Jason and brother Daryl. He was predeceased by his parents, Soren and Gladys and his beloved wife, Rosalie. He is survived by his sons and their spouses, his brother, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and numerous sisters and brothers-in- law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Garry spent his career in various retail and managerial positions with Sears Canada until his retirement while living in Richmond and later Ladner. He and Rose moved to Nanaimo in 2013.
Garry was a strong athlete in his younger years, particularly basketball and baseball and later assisted with his boys’ teams as they grew up. He was also an avid sports fan supporting the BlueJays, Raptors and more recently enjoying the curling bonspiels, watching as many sports on TV as he could fit in. When he wasn’t watching sports, he was listening to the music of his era. He and Rose loved to dance.
Garry was a very gregarious person who loved meeting and chatting with people. He had many long term friends from his high school days and working and sports environs.
He developed several complex health issues starting in his 30”s. He was “always good” when asked. He took his struggles in stride and never complained
He lived a full life but lost his joy when Rose died in 2020.
We would like to thank his many doctors and health care professionals for their kindness and care. He appreciated you all.
There will be no service by request. If you want to do something to honour his memory, do a random act of kindness or contribute to the less fortunate. He would have loved that. Rest well, Garry. You were greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
