George was many things in his life – father, artist, soldier, sailor, pilot. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces for over 25 years, first in the army reserves, then in the navy for 5 years, and then in the air force for 20 years. He was an aircraft refinisher in the air force. After retiring from the armed forces he worked for many years in the airline industry.
As a father of hockey-playing sons, George was also a coach, and even sewed uniforms himself for the whole team. George was an artist, doing many pen and ink drawings as well as other paintings. He was a sign painter in Chatham New Brunswick, where many of his signs were seen throughout the town. He was also a cartoonist for the Ladysmith Chronicle.
George restored many small aircraft as well as cars, with amazing speed and quality. These planes and cars would look like they belonged in a showroom when done. He built many of his own planes, and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Club at the Nanaimo Airport.
George was predeceased by his first wife Elva. He is survived by his loving wife Binghua, sons Arnie (Jen), Dave (Pam), son-in-law Yun, grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A small service was held in memory of George, at his home.
