Jeannette Kathryn Hester died on July 5th, 2024 in Parksville. She will be deeply missed by husband, Norman; daughters, Lynda and Penny (Cary); son, James (Joan); grandchildren, Conrad, Cary, John, Randy, Jacqui, Tracy, Kelly, Rachel and Scott; and great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Riley, Lilah, Grady, Chase, Sorrel, Zoey, Aria, Summer, Logan and Juliet.

Jeannette was born on January 13th, 1931 in Chilliwack to Gertrude and Christopher Nicholson. Jeannette had three older sisters Mary, Norah and Dorothy who were her support group after the early death of her parents.

On completion of Grade 13 Jeannette went to Normal School in Vancouver where she met Norman who she married in December 1952. There were many moves in the early years until the family settled in North Vancouver in 1957 where, as well as raising three children, Jeannette taught pre-school for many years.

After retirement in 1986 Jeannette and Norman moved to Eagle Bay in the Shuswap. Jeannette embraced the community, joined various clubs, taught Sunday school and was secretary to the local church. While in Eagle Bay Jeannette became a weekly columnist for the Shuswap Market News writing many articles of interest.

In 2002 Jeannette and Norman moved to Qualicum Beach There they enjoyed new friends and many happy years. With declining health Jeannette moved into long term care in Parksville where she lived for 4 years.

Jeannette will be remembered forever for her love of family, kindness and dry wit.
