In Loving Memory, it is with heartfelt sadness the family of John Ivan Armich announces his passing. John passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Friday, October 29th, 2021 with his loving family at his side. John was born in Pakrac, Croatia, to parents Ivan and Fanika Armich and was the youngest of 6 children. He earned his red seal in welding at the age of 17 in Croatia and later emigrated from Croatia to Canada in 1957.
John was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Shirley; brothers, Frank, Joeseph, and Vinko; sisters, Rozika and Ivanka. John is survived by his wife, Beryl, of 57 years; daughter, Marina (John); sons, Bobby and John (Gustavo); granddaughters, Amelia (Neil), Danika (Nick), and Sam (Kiara); grandson, Pearce (Stacey); and great grandson, Frank. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
John and Beryl loved dancing over the years including square dancing, ballroom and socially, especially the polkas. John was a family man with a sense of community; he had a kind quiet nature and a wonderful sense of humour. Over the years he built a number of homes for his family as well as designed and welded countless wood burning stoves. John was also an avid gardener and had a green thumb. He was a soccer enthusiast, enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, making wine, playing bocce, travelling, had fun hosting family pig roasts over the years and he really loved spending time with his grandchildren. In 1992 he retired from MacMillan Bloedel in Port Alberni as a welder. He will be greatly missed by us all.
