It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Richard William Booth, 35, on December 3, 2023. He left this world unexpectedly due to an aortic aneurysm in Port Alberni, BC. Richard was born on May 25, 1988, in Nanaimo, BC to Marguerite Kennedy.
Richard was a loving and devoted partner to Taylor Booth for 12 years. He brought love, laughter, and dedication to Taylor’s life, and their bond was a true testament to the power of their love and commitment.
Richard was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He will be remembered for his ever-present smile and larger than life laugh, and the impacts that he made in each life he entered with his willingness to always give 100% to others. His life did not come without trials as he confronted his addiction and entered treatment and was nearing his 8-year anniversary of sobriety, which he was incredibly proud of as was his family. After, he made his way into the ultra-marathon running world, which brought even more incredible friends into our family circle, and a running community which he adored being a part of.
Beyond his personal accomplishments, Richard was a loving parent to Aurora Booth (9) and Emmett Booth (7). He was always there to support and guide them, instilling the values of courage, adventure, creativity, health, ambition, commitment, and growth. Richard created countless memories with his family, and those moments will forever be treasured.
Richard is also survived by his mother Marguerite Kennedy, stepfather Gord Robson, Mother-in-law Karen Olearnek, Sister-in-law Rylie Pierce and her partner Jordan Perry, Nephews Benson and Braylon Perry, Father-in-law Rob McLennan and his partner Janine Freeland, Step-father-in-law Grant Pierce and his partner Maureen Erasmus, and many other family members and friends.
The sudden loss of Richard has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the love and cherished memories he leaves behind. May he forever be remembered as a beloved spouse, parent, and friend.
A celebration of life will be held in the future, however the date has not been determined at this time.
