OBITUARY

Robert Alan McCamon

November 13, 1967September 8, 2019

Robert Alan McCamon, RMT, sadly left us on September 8, 2019. Whatever Robert was interested in, he dived in without hesitation. You may have seen him riding his electric skateboard down the E & N Trail, or learning to speak Tibetan at his favourite coffee shop, double shot Americano in hand. In the last year, he found a new passion of camping by kayak and had a life-changing experience due to spending time in India, studying Buddhism and attending teachings by HH The Dalai Lama. Family, friends and helping people as a Massage Therapist were Robert’s greatest loves. Left behind are Robert’s wife Laura, sons Adam and Matthew, mother Marg (Dave), brothers Jim (Laurie) and Dave (Sandy), sister Lesley Lynn, step-brother Sean, nieces Samantha and Kate, nephews Andrew (Danielle), Kyle (Shannon) and Brent, a great niece and nephew, many cousins, in-laws and friends, including long-time friend Darren. Robert was predeceased by his father Harvey.

There will be a celebration of life for Robert McCamon to be held on October 5, 2019 from 1 to 4 pm. It will be held at Ocean Sands Resort. 1165 Resort Drive in Parksville BC, in the main unit next to the office. It is open to anyone wishing to attend. Please contact Laura at lauramccamon@gmail.com for more information or if you would like to share a story or poem during the gathering. Bring appropriate shoes for a walk on Robert’s favourite beach. Please be respectful of paying guests and only park in designated visitor spots.

Our visit to this planet is short, so we should use our time meaningfully, which we can do by helping others wherever possible. Dalai Lama

I am so crushed to hear of his passing at such a young age. You were a wonderful RMT and colleague. I loved hearing of your trips to Tibet, yoga, the language and your desire to develop further in your spiritual quest. My heart goes out to Laura and his sons. ❤️

Robert was such an incredible friend, massage therapist and human being. I had the pleasure of meeting him in massage therapy college, where he would dedicate countless lunch hours tutoring all of us newbies. He was an incredibly skilled RMT, and I was lucky enough to do a continuing education course with him a few years ago on salt spring island. We spent a week learning yoga and anatomy and I vividly remember he kept speaking about his sons and how proud he was of them. I will cherish our memories, and send my love to his family at this heavy time. Rest In Peace Robert xx

So sad.
Had the pleasure of belonging to a business group with him.
And giving him a great haircut so he could make Laura happy.
Far to young to have left this world.
Prayers to Laura and his entire family 🙏

Robert was one of the most interesting and kind-hearted people I have met. I met Robert through a local networking group and he noticed that I was in a lot of pain from a recent shoulder injury when I used to play Football. Immediately he took a look at it and told me he thought that my collar bone was dislocated. He could have given me a business card and sent me on my way, but he insisted that I come to his home and he will fix it for free. Not only did he fix my shoulder issue but we were able to sit and talk about his life and passions. The world needs more Roberts, he will be missed.
