Wayne Elwood Watson

He is survived by son Darin (Julie) Watson, Granddaughter Jessica, Great Grandchildren Sophia and Tyler, and Daughter Michelle (Mark) Gama, and Granddaughter Sophie.

Born to Maurice and Dora Watson in Cabri, Saskatchewan. Wayne was raised on the family farm where he developed a strong work ethic, family values and his love of animals.

Wayne’s skilled moves on the dance floor taught to him by his mother impressed Donna, who was to become his wife, they shared a love of dance throughout their marriage. He also had a passion for skeet shooting and won multiple trophies and awards for his skills in marksmanship including winning the Vancouver Island Skeet Champion award multiple times.

From 1972 to 1976 Wayne worked as a LPN at the Victoria General Hospital, he then transferred to Materials Management at the Victoria General Hospital until he retired after 31 years. After retirement Wayne and his wife Donna moved to Nanaimo.

Predeceased by his wife of 47 years Donna Watson, parents Maurice and Dora Watson and sister, Doreen Sandbeck.

Wayne will be lovingly remembered for his adventurous heart, his world travels, his kindness, his honesty, his attention to detail and his ability figure out and fix almost anything. He had a great sense of humor and was never short on stories. One of his favorite pastimes was to play the game of Crokinole.

Wayne was granted a second chance at love when he met Donna Robertson, they shared many adventures and travels together, and had a shared love of life. He loved spending time with Donna and she always made him smile.

The family would like to thank Dr. Patterson and all the wonderful nurses at the High Acuity Unit in Nanaimo General Hospital for the care and compassion given to Wayne and his family.
