Born on May 10, 1948 to Clinton and Rachel-Jane, Alan lived 1,000 years in the 70 calendar years that he was here with us.. A businessman who was never afraid to pull himself up by the bootstraps, an expert in “dad jokes” and solving problems no matter how big or small, and someone who fought to find the good in every situation, Alan was a father to six children. On June 2, 1991, Alan married Christine Williams, and the two spent over 20 years together living in the Sunshine State, soaking up the rays, spending afternoons on the golf course, and taking on the world one step at a time. The two greatest loves in Alan’s life were his family and laughter, of which he brought plenty to each day.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Clinton; his mother, Rachel-Jane; his brother, David; and his sister, Linda. His survivors include his wife, Christine; children Mark, Michele, Christina, Ashlee, Evan, and Alana; sister Marcia, brother-in-law David, and niece Crystal; sister Janis and niece Tanya; son-in-law Michael; grandchildren Madeline, Mason, Abbygayle and Devin; and his beloved Max “Macaroni.”
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Quail’s Nest Cabana in Quail Creek Village in Naples.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Alan’s honor.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
