Alice B. Dunney
February 4, 1915 – November 16, 2019
Alice (McGuire) Dunney of Naples, Florida and formally from Marblehead, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, November 16th at the age of 104. She was the daughter of the late Catherine Jackson and James Burke. She was predeceased by her husbands, Raymond C McGuire and William Dunney, and great grandson, Joseph Gallagher, sisters Elizabeth and Mary, brothers Richard, William and Jack. Alice is survived by her son, Raymond C McGuire Jr. and his wife Judy, daughters, Maureen (George) Gibbons, Francine (Robert) Rantz, Mary Susan (Benjamin) Harris and Anne (Joseph) Francis. She also leaves twenty one grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren, and one great -great grandchild.
Alice was a devoted wife and mother who loved entertaining and saw to it, on every holiday, to include people who had no place to go. She was a women way ahead of her time, starting and operating a flower business (McGuire’s Flower Barn, Peabody, MA.) for 35 yrs, while raising her five children.
After retirement, she became an integral part in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her faith was a very important part of her life, helping her in every situation. A member of Star of the Sea Parish in Marblehead, MA, and a sacristan at St. Williams in Naples, FL.
It is said that “The power of a persons life is the stories they leave behind”. Alice’s stories will continue to be told by her large family and she will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be on December 10th at 10 am at St Williams Church.
