Ann Hill

Ann, the eldest of four children was born on December 8, 1928, to Paul and Anna Vormittag in Chicago, Illinois. Ann met and married Jim Hill in 1947. They went on to have five children, Sue Ann, Dennis, Scott, Tom and Sandy. They lived in Palatine, Illinois, Woodstock, Illinois and finally settled in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Ann began her long career in cosmetology after attending school. She was the owner of Northside Beauty Shop in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She continued her career finally retiring at the age of 82.

Ann, Jim and Sandy moved to Naples, Florida in August of 1978. Five years after moving to Naples Jim passed away. Ann had a dilemma, stay in Naples or move back to Illinois. She chose to stay and try it down here for a year. She never looked back. Naples was now home.

Ann spent her time following her passion of travel. She first traveled to Alaska on a two-week cruise. That trip sparked a passion for travel till the end. Ann traveled throughout the United States, north to south and east to west. She also traveled to Europe. One of her most memorable trips to Europe was actually two trips. She took her first river cruise on the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Budapest followed by her second trip on the Danube from Budapest to Bucharest ending in the Black Sea. Ann traveled throughout Europe. Another memorable trip was her trip to New Zealand for three weeks. She took many cruises to the Caribbean seeing the Panama Canal, Columbia, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, the Virgin Islands, many ports in Mexico, Honduras, Belize, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas.

Ann traveled with family and friends all through the years. She has many photo albums of each of these trips. Ann’s final trip was in January 2024 with Sandy. They completed a short cruise to the Bahamas. Throughout her travels she went by plane, train, automobile, busses and of course cruise ships.

Ann also had a passion for the garden. She loved working outside, even in the heat of Florida. There was always a project happening.

Ann was predeceased by her husband James Hill, daughter Sue Ann Klamer, son Dennis Hill, parents Paul and Anna Vormittag, sister Mary Vormittag and brothers Paul Vormittag and John Vormittag and son-in-law Richard Tarr.

Ann is survived by sons Scott (Gail) Hill, Tom (Shirley) Hill and daughter Sandy Tarr along with daughter-in-law Beth Hill and son-in-law Jake Klamer. Grandchildren Kevin (Colleen) Hill, Alyssa (Nate) Pangallo, Robin Hill, Amy (Michael) Nelson, Tara (Matt) Winterbottom, Eric (Lauren) Hill, Caitlin (Tiffany) Tarr and Logan (Keaonna) Tarr. Great Grandchildren Gemma and Cole Hill, Nico Pangallo, Ellie Winterbottom, Emma and Alex Hill, and Amelia and Ophelia Tarr.

Services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Hodges Funeral Home (525 111th Ave North) visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 with Ann’s memorial beginning at 2:30. Interment immediately following at Naples Memorial Gardens.
