Berta Garcia

Berta J Garcia (Nana), a beloved & cherished mother and grandmother, peacefully went to be with the Lord at the age of 86 on Saturday, July 27th, 2024. She was born on November 4th, 1937 in Batabano, Cuba to Modesto Garcia & Flora Copa. She grew up in Isla de Pinos and was raised in her family-owned hotel La Favorita.

Berta is survived by her five children: David (Ana Maria), Ana Berta, Marisol (Patrick), Nydia & Alexandra. Her 11 Grandchildren: David, Nallely, Yessica, Kassandra, Michael, Stephen, Robert, Alex, Gabriel, Jean Carlo and Ella. Her 8 Great Grandchildren: Orlando, David, Isabella, Dominic, Rose, Logan, Kai & Lyla. As well as her many nieces & nephews.

Awaited in Heaven by – her parents Modesto Garcia & Flora Copa. Her Siblings – Francisco, Modesto & Justo (better known as Pancho, Neno & Tito), Marina & Raul and her son in law Manolo.

A woman of deep faith, she found solace and strength in her relationship with Jesus Christ. Leaving her family behind, in 1962 she left Cuba with her 2 small children, to begin a new life in the United States. She continued her self-taught seamstress skills not only as an occupation, but more importantly to bless those she loved on important and memorable occasions, such as birthdays, weddings & births.

In her spare time, you would find her visiting family & friends, cooking her famous arroz con leche to share, playing a round of dominoes and dancing.

Berta’s life was one characterized by unconditional love for all, strong faith and resilience. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her and her legacy of immense steadfast love for family will forever reign in our hearts.
