

Betty Doris (Tanny) Crowley died suddenly and unexpectedly November 5, 2014 at North Naples Community Hospital, after a long, full, active and productive life. She was born December 13, 1925 in Lynn, MA to Edith (Erny) and Edward Tanny. She was the oldest and only daughter of four children. She was predeceased in 2005 by her husband of 55 years, John F. Crowley. Grammy “B” was an energetic, social and lively woman of deep faith, full of life, a natural beauty who credited her Johny with developing her self-confidence to move from childhood shyness to her unbounded dynamic personality. She loved life and was fully engaged with the world, strongly connecting with people. She never met a stranger and made instant friends of young and old in all walks of life. She maintained deep and loyal friendships over time and distance by phone, notes and cards despite moving household 26 times. Full of goodness, with a positive attitude, she encouraged everyone with her strong opinions and high standards. A homemaker in her early marriage, she worked in the family business for 35 years at Kona Mansion Inn. During retirement, she and John reveled in big, informal parties. She organized her “girls” with a No Stress Golf League and Sandwich Day. She was an accomplished seamstress, clever and dexterous. A child of the Great Depression, she loved a bargain and dressed many with her finds.
She leaves her three children and their families: Dennis & Marylin (Janik) Crowley of Meredith, NH, grandson Dr. Matthew & Dr. Jenette Wood and great-grandchildren Tommy and Charlie Crowley of Durham, NC, granddaughter Jessica & Joshua and great-grandchild Abraham Rowland of Durham, NC, newlywed granddaughter Sara & Andrew LeBlanc of Peach Tree City, GA; daughter Dr. Karen Crowley & Dr. Mark Joyce of Newington NH; son Kevin & Dianne (Bernhard) Crowley of Moultonborough, NH, granddaughter Erin & Peter Kearns expecting Grammy’s fourth great-grandchild, grandson Patrick Crowley and his fiancé Jolene Dooley, whose wedding is planned on Grammy’s birthday this year, grandsons Brian Crowley and Brendan Crowley, all of Quincy, MA. She also leaves her dear sister-in-law Lillian & Jim Thuline of Pasadena, FL, her companion Glenn Alexander of Atkinson, NH, and a wide circle of family and friends who will deeply miss her generous spirit.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday November 10th 2014, 10:00am at Church of the Ascension 6025 Estero Boulevard, Ft. Myers Beach, FL, lunch refreshments will be served after Mass at Church, Burial will follow at 1:30pm at Naples Memorial Gardens 525 111th Avenue North Naples, FL 34108.
