Carol Ann Lavery `nee Gavin was the middle child in a family of five, two brothers and three sisters. She was born the day WW II ended, September 7,1945. Her childhood was a happy and typical one in suburban 50’s Boston. Public schools, lots of cousins and cheerleading at Melrose High. Her mother Mary was a college grad, the daughter of a professor, and her father Dave was an All-America football player and revered coach and teacher for 30+ years at her high school.
Upon graduation from Massachusetts State at Salem with a business teaching degree, she adventurously chose to be one of the first female customer reps at Xerox Corporation and then later as a stewardess for American Airlines. The latter took her to Los Angeles for several years where she made life-long friendships. Carol returned to Boston and worked again for Xerox. This time in their Learning Systems Division as a Seminar Leader and consultant. There she met and married her husband Bob of 50 years. They lived in Chappaqua, NY for the next 30+ years and raised two wonderful and successful children, Melissa and David. While her business career continued as a sought after free-lancer, she chose being a wife and mother. A role she took on with energy and unflagging devotion.
She’ll be remembered by her many friends for her beauty, her laughter and natural social grace. Carol enjoyed a retirement in Naples, FL among new friends and tennis enthusiasts. She passed away on June 7, 2025. Her final years were devastated by Alzheimer Dementia.
