Chris grew up in Ottawa and was the hometown hero of the Bell Bruins basketball team. He also played on the Canadian National team and in the Canada Summer Games.
After an award winning high school career, his talents took him to the University of Niagara Purple Eagles on a full scholarship.
After college, he began his career in the hospitality industry which was a perfect match for his smiling blue eyes and love of people. He worked in major hotels in New York City, Ottawa, Vancouver and Naples and eventually landed at the LaPlaya Golf Club of Naples, where he worked for nine years and retired as the Director of Operations.
Chris will be deeply missed by his wife, Stacy Jonsson, his sons, Carter and Clinton Jonsson, his stepchildren Taryn and Trey Gamble and Mara and Chris Lezgus.
He also leaves behind his mother, Donna Jonsson and brother, Ian Jonsson from Ottawa, Canada and his sister Karin Jonsson and husband Pierre Lepine and their daughter Madeleine Rose from Montreal, Canada.
Stacy and the family would like to thank the following groups for their continued support throughout this journey: LaPlaya Golf Club, Tony House and the Ottawa Basketball Brotherhood, Carlton Lakes Naples, Surroundings Fine Consignment and his personal nurse, Ernest Donaus.
A celebration of Chris’ life will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 29th, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
