Frances J. Lind, loving father of Stuart Lind of Hopkins Minnesota, and Roger Lind of Wayne Pennsylvania also survived by 11 grandchildren.
In 1988, he retired and moved to Naples, Florida, becoming active in St. John’s Episcopal Church and its Outreach and Missions Committee. This eventually resulted in the creation of St. Monica’s Episcopal Church. Mr. Lind served on the new St Monica’s Church Vestry and was Senior Warden for four years.
He rejoined St John’s Episcopal Church in 1994 and served for seven years on the Vestry and Chaired the Missions and Outreach Committee.
In 1995 he joined the St. Matthew’s House Board of Directors and chaired the Development Committee. In 1998 he conceived St. Matthew's House’s largest fundraiser, the annual Golfathon, now in its 14th year. In its unique format, the Golfathon has raised over $4 million dollars since its inception.
Mr. Lind was elected as St. Matthew’s House Board of Directors President in 2005 and held that position until 2009, when he became Vice Chairman of the Board. During his term as Board President he was able to lead the organization through a merger with the Immokalee Friendship House. Most recently he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at St. Matthew’s House Board of Trustees.
In recognition of his outstanding service to the local community, June 28, 2011 was declared Dean Lind Day by the Collier County Commission. St. Matthew’s House held a reception in his honor and renamed its largest fund raising event the Dean Lind – St. Matthew’s House Golfathon.
Local services will be held at the Hodges Funeral Home 525-111th Avenue North Naples on Tuesday August 16th at 4:00pm, visitation prior to service from 2:00-4:00 pm
