Ian was born on November 19, 1937 in Luton England to Margaret and Frederick Collins.
He served in the Royal Air Force, and became a skilled trades journeyman working as an electrician moving his family to Canada, and eventually the United States. He settled in Michigan and worked for Ford Motor Company as an electrician for 30+ years.
Ian and MaryAnn retired to Naples, Florida in 1997. They enjoyed golfing, dinners at the club and really everything about the community.
Ian was a board member of the Cedar Hammock Golf & Country Club Homeowners Association, and a friend to many. He was riding his trike bicycle up until November of 2023, saying hello to many on his route. He became ill with Pneumonia in late November, he fought hard, but complications arose.
Survivors include: Brother, John Douglas, Sister, Kathy Douglas, Daughter Karen (Jon) Cameron, Step-daughter Cristine Little, Step-son John (Kori) Glentzer, and 11 grandchildren Keith, Kyle, Sara, Tyler, Michael, David, Allison, Lucas, Katie, Bradyn, Travis: 3 great grandchildren, Braylon, Landin & Jaxon
Ian was preceded in death by his brother Gordon, his sisters Anne and Josie, his first wife, Lyn Collins, his second wife MaryAnn Collins, his step-daughter Susan and his step-son Rick,
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on December 28th, 2023 at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Garden, 525 111th Ave N Naples, FL 34108
