Diane Lambert

May 19, 1943April 4, 2021

Diane Geraldine Lambert (Duerr) of Naples Florida, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday April 4, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was 77 years young.

Born in Queens, NY on May 19, 1943, she was the loving daughter of the late William and Alma Duerr. One of three children, Diane and her siblings shared a loving bond throughout their lives.

Diane graduated from Babylon High School, Deer Park Long Island New York in 1961. She went on to graduate with a degree in Psychology and Physical Education from Old Dominion University, Norfolk Virginia in 1965. She took great pride in raising her 2 children with her husband Robert Edward. After his passing, she continued her 25 year career as an educator in Physical Education at Cromwell Middle School in Cromwell, CT. Her many years teaching were accompanied by coaching soccer, basketball, softball, track and many different after school club sports. Her smile and undeniable energy were reveled and remembered by the many students, parents and faculty in the town of Cromwell.

Over her storied career in teaching and coaching she developed many dear friends. As her family continued to grow, her 5 grandchildren quickly became the highlights of her life. She enjoyed watching the kids grow and loved being a “coach” from the sidelines at sporting events and visits to Grammy/Nana’s house were the best! She cherished every moment with family and friends. She especially loved her home and community in Naples Florida. After 15 years in the Cedar Hammock Community it was clear she had found her people. With her devoted and cherished friends, she enjoyed, golf, canasta, volunteering at the Women’s shelter, lunch by the pool, and dinners at the club. Everyone enjoyed her infectious smile and her giving way about her was undeniable. The saying giving the shirt of her back was never more than embodied than by Diane. Her generous and giving ways will be remembered by all fondly.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Edward Lambert. Devoted mother of Robert William and his wife Yanina of Stuart, FL, and Kerri Anne and her husband Eric of North Attleboro, MA. Cherished Grammy/Nana of Mason, Téa, Victoria, Luca, and Leo. Loving sister of Bill and his wife Carolyn of Yakima WA, and Joyce Swilling of Cromwell CT. Loving Aunt to Ron, Kristy, Ryan and Jordan.

A special thanks to all her friends who blessed Diane with care, compassion and friendship for many years. Diane would want all to live for today and always be happy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Diane may be made to: The Shelter for Abused Women and Children (where Diane volunteered) P.O. Box 10102 Naples, FL 34101 and/or Avow Hospice, Foundation Avow 1095 Whippoorwill Lane Naples, Florida 34105 .

I was so saddened to hear of Diane’s passing. We shared many years as colleagues at Cromwell Middle School and as friends after retiring. I always loved when she would return to Cromwell to join us for our monthly breakfasts. Such a caring person always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be missed by so many. May you rest in eternal peace, Diane❤️ My condolences to both Rob and Kerri.

I will always remember Mrs Lambert as was. The last time I was around her was spending time with her son Rob & I were at her home at the TPC River Highlands watching the golfers behind her home on Hole #9 . She had many chairs set up for friends & family to visit & watch. Also how proud she was of both her children Rob & Kerri. I remember her smiling & dancing at Kerri & Eric's wedding @ Glastonbury Hills CC . Great memories live forever! My prayers go to Rob & Yanina , Kerri & Eric & their families. ✝️

Mrs Lambert was an amazing lady, teacher and coach. She was the person who inspired me to major in Physical Education (way back in middle school). She will be missed immensely, but her memory and unmatched energy and smile will be remembered forever. Much love, hugs and prayers to Rob, Kerri and their families during this tough time. My heart goes out to you. Celebrate her!!

Diane was a great lady and friend of our family. I remember the pool parties and gym classes. She let me play on the volleyball team even though my talent was sad. I will remember her laugh forever.
Sympathy for the family,

Dianes family and mine spent a lot of time together. We both bought our houses at the same time and our children played together. It was a very nice relationship.

I was blessed to share and partner the Cromwell Middle School Physical Education Department with Mrs. Diane Lambert. As a team, we shared the same passion and commitment for teaching and coaching, and always strived, to offer the best physical education, intramural and interscholastic athletic programs, for the students of the Cromwell Middle School. She will be sadly missed!
My condolences go out to her family.
