Don was born on December 5, 1937. He was raised in Lima, Ohio and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1955. While still in school he began his life's adventures as a paperboy, then became a champion race car driver, onto owning a gas station, owned rental properties, a few other ventures and retired after 37 years with Ford Engine Plant in Lima. Mac was a diehard Ford guy with motor oil in his blood.
Don was husband and best friend to his wife Sheri. They married over 40 years ago and together they became a blended family. He was a father to their 4 children, Marsha Schnipke of Spencerville, OH, Cheryl Cooper of Lehigh Acres, Fl, Larry (Sharon) Stroud of Knoxville, TN, Lori Stroud of N. Ft.Myers, FL. He was PAPA to their 5 granddaughters, Jessica (Chris) Carroll of Ft. Myers, FL, Taylor Stroud of Ft. Myers, FL. Linzie Rivers of Knoxville, TN, Emilee (Cole) Shroyer of Fairborn, OH, Eryka Wynter of Tampa, FL, also 3 great grands, Ryan Carroll, Rylee Carroll of Ft. Myers and Grant Shroyer of Fairborn. Don was a brother to Jack McClintock, Dennis McClintock, Karen Hinkle, and Linda Phillips all of Lima. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and a lot of in-laws.
On their onward journey they went in search of sunshine and found their paradise in Bonita Springs, Florida where they made their retirement home.
Mac was always happy on the water whether he was the Captain on their Superdandy or seeing the world from a cruise ship. He loved traveling the highways and byways of this great land. He was an avid "ALL" sports guy but especially his OSU Buckeyes. Mac was a "jack of all trades" and A MASTER OF MOST. He was everyone's GO TO GUY.
Waiting to welcome Don home, his infant daughter Diane which he will once again hold in his arms, his parents, Helen and Warren McClintock, brother Ted McClintock, and sisters Joyce Reed and Donna Layton. He will be happy to say his "HOWDY" to so many friends.
Don often said he had no regrets, he wouldn't change a thing, he had a wonderful life and HE DID IT HIS WAY!!
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hodgesfhatnaplesmg.com for the McClintock family.
