She was born in Mamaroneck, NY and resided in NY until she and her husband moved to Naples, FL in 1982 after they closed their upholstery business.
Dottie graduated high school at the age of 16, with straight A’s. In a different financial time – she would have attended an elite scholarly college or university.
While out with her older brother Jimmy, she was introduced to Victor Buckett. It was a chance meeting – as it was the first and only time they went to this restaurant/bar. They were married in 1947 and remained married for 68 ½ years. She is survived by her brother Robert (Butch) and daughter (Bonnie) & two sons (Bill & Barry). She has 5 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.
Dottie was a lady of many talents. Being an accomplished seamstress, she often made her own clothes, including wedding dresses (that later were entered into competition). She was a self-taught accountant and kept “the books” for Creative Decorators (their upholstery business). Back in the day, when the IRS conducted business audits at your home, they commented that her bookkeeping was so organized and wanted to know where she received her CPA from!!
Dottie loved sports, especially baseball. She was a huge fan of the New York Mets. In NY, she always brought a large radio with her to the beach or pool, so she could listen to their games. At her son’s baseball games – she always kept score. When it came to Football – wherever Peyton Manning was – that was her team.
Dottie and Vic traveled quite extensively into their 80’s, throughout the world. She had been in every state in the US, except North Dakota.
Dottie’s intellect transitioned quite well onto the Bridge table. She and her husband Victor were a formidable team.
Dottie’s Love of the Lord and belief in God led her to become a Eucharistic Minister at St Williams Church, for several years, until March 2020.
When Dottie knew You & liked You – You had an ally for life. Her support for friends & family will be sorely missed.
Dottie’s interment will occur Jan 22, in the family plot, Tenafly New Jersey at Mt Carmel Cemetery. A memorial mass and celebration of life will be held in Naples, on March 22.
