

Doug attended Highlandtown elementary in Highlandtown, Ohio until he moved to Naples in 1992. In Naples, he was a student at Seagate Elementary and Golden Gate Middle School. He graduated from Naples High School in 2001.
Doug was dedicated to his volunteer work at the Encore Resale Shop in Naples.
One of Doug’s favorite past times was fishing. His love of fishing began at Highlandtown Lake where he fished with his granddad, Don Valentine. This love of fishing continued in Naples. He enjoyed fishing from the Naples Pier and at Hideaway on Marco Island.
Doug had a special gift in the study and analysis of sport statistics as it pertained to teams and individual players. This was true of almost any sport but especially in basketball and football. His favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, Florida Marlins, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by his step-mother, Kathy Snider Valentine, a brother Vincent Rives of Naples, a sister, Lacey Jo (Shaun) Dotson, a niece, Dakota, and a nephew, Austin of Wellsville, Ohio, a grandmother, Clara Valentine of Wellsville. Grandparents Margaret and Edwin Tice of East Liverpool, Ohio, aunts Karen (Tom) Jones of East Liverpool, Lori (John) Elkins of Wellsville. An uncle Bill (Kathie Ann) of Orlando, Florida, aunts Kelly (Chad) Russell of Davisburg, Michigan, Caroline (Craig) Miller of Clarkson, Michigan, Abby (Joe) Shemasek of East Liverpool, and his adopted grandfather, Walter Cahn of Marco Island, Florida.
Doug was a loving and devoted son, brother, grandson, uncle and nephew. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends in Ohio, Naples and Marco Island.
Services were held on May 26 at Hodges Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
