Earl Joseph Pidgeon, 87, of Naples, Florida, passed away November 11, 2018. He was born in New York City in March 1931, and graduated from Croton-on-Hudson High School in 1950. Earl enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950 and was deployed to Korea the same year spending two years of active duty as a communication linesman. Upon returning to the United States as an Army Corporal, he attended trade school becoming a certified/licensed plumber, and spent 10 yrs in the Army National Guard retiring as Sgt. First Class in 1961. Earl was a member of UA Local 21 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union and contributed to many commercial building projects throughout Westchester County, NY with a concentration of work at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. From 1980-1994 he worked in the engineering department at Phelps Memorial Hospital in North Tarrytown, NY becoming an expert in boiler operations. Earl was a volunteer firefighter for 19 years at Washington Hook & Ladder in Ossining, NY, participated in the American Legion, and was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member. He is survived by his first wife, Barbara Pidgeon of North Myrtle Beach, SC. and their four children; Linda Marks, Russell Pidgeon, Maureen Siler, and Mark Pidgeon; and grandchildren, Daniel Pidgeon, Andrew Pidgeon, and Kevin Pidgeon; as well as his current wife Katherine Visalli Pidgeon whom he married in 1983. A Funeral Mass will take place at 12:00PM on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
