

Edward was born on October 15, 1925 in North Braddock, Pennsylvania to Michael and Anna (Kruchinetz) Davis. Edward heroically fought in WWII with the 9th Infantry Division and participated in the Normandy Invasion landing at Omaha beach. Edward received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star of Valor and numerous other distinctions culminating in the designation of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Edward re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and had a distinguished twenty year career which was followed by a career in the teaching field as well as many successful entrepreneurial endeavors.
Edward is survived by his son Edward M. (Jane) Davis, his daughters, Jennifer (Darryl) Damon, Christina Davis and Marilyn (Jack) Coffey. He was cherished by his grandchildren, Derek, Devin, Michael, Carolyn, Julia, Emily, Alex, Kelsey and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ginette P. Davis in 2011 and his beloved first wife, Alice Jane Davis in 1959.
Edward was well loved by his students, colleagues and friends whether in the US or abroad. His kind smile and quick wit will forever be missed by all. We will never forget his courage and devotion to his family.
Captain Davis will be laid to rest with graveside military honors at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens. Ginette will finally be laid to rest beside her husband.
