Grace Elizabeth Lord Williams was born to British immigrant parents Fred and Elizabeth (Dalton) Lord, on October 28, 1918 in Malden, Massachusetts. Grace, along with her parents and older brother, Harold, moved to Milford, New Hampshire shortly after her birth, and when she was five years old the family moved to New Castle, Indiana which became their permanent home.
She attended Holland Elementary School and graduated from New Castle High School in 1936. She was married to Kenneth Moystner (1942-65). In 1971, she married Dr. John Norton Williams, pastor of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Connersville, Indiana. With this marriage she became the mother to John's two sons, John Jr. and Greg whose mother had died a few years earlier.
John and Grace enjoyed 25 wonderful years together until his death in 1996. They spent their retirement years living in a beautiful English Tudor home in Alliance, Ohio, but the cold snowy winters drove them to winter in Naples, Florida. When John passed away Grace decided to move there permanently.
During the years of WWII, Grace worked at the Chrysler Corporation in New Castle. Later, she worked at the I R C & D Motor Freight Co. in New Castle and Muncie, Indiana until her retirement. She enjoyed her years of employment and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her faith and being the wife of a minister was of utmost importance. She was an avid learner and took many classes at Earlham College. She had a real passion for animals, especially her cats. She and John loved to travel and over the years they visited many countries. She enjoyed 58 cruises throughout her lifetime. One of the highlights of her life was experiencing the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953.
She had a keen sense of humor and always had a joke to tell as well as being the master of puns. She enjoyed reading, writing, and working crossword puzzles (in ink). When asked what her secret to longevity was she replied with, "...always having something to look forward to and Vitamin E.”
Grace is survived by step sons Dr. John N. Williams (Lucy) of Indianapolis, Greg (Marla) of Indianapolis, nephew Rev. Ron Lord (Joan) of Janesville, Wisconsin, niece Mary Winslow (Hugh) of Muncie, Indiana, Niece Grace (Dr. Carroll) Galvin of Waseca, Minnesota, three grandchildren: Carrie Cowgell (John), Jamie and Sarah Williams and several great nieces and nephews.
