Jimmy is now rearranging the whole celestial orchestra and choir and when all the notes are expressed and he is happy with the result, he smiles, and we hear the angels sing.

I am so saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He was pre deceased by his brother John Edward Dale on March 15, 2017 who was my dad from age 10 to 64. As a young kid I used to refer to John's brother as 'The Jimmy Dale Orchestra'. Whenever I saw John speaking with Jim on the phone I felt a a great sense of love and peace between the two brothers. My heartfelt condolences to Beverley, their boys and those close to him. I pray your grief moves through you gently.

Jim was the best friend anyone could have, a wonderful friend. I will miss him very much. I looked forward to our weekly lunches and chats and time together. He was Jim. Very special.

Little did I know when I met Jim in February 2003 that it would be the beginning of an inspiring long-time friendship. I learned a ton from him that stood me in good stead every time I stepped on a stage. And his stories were stuff that legends are made of. I'm grateful for all the times and laughs we shared. Lance and I extend our deepest sympathies to Beverly, Miles, Jeremy and the rest of his family and friends. He'll be missed a lot.

I'm so sorry to hear this news of Jimmy's passing. Most notably I got to work with Jimmy on April 8, '88 at a concert with Don Francks at Roy Thomson Hall. Jimmy also wrote innumerable charts for Don that I re-transcribed as his writing was famously messy! I also got to hang out at the Boston Ave car garage many times and watched as Jimmy would re-tool a part - he re-did the dashboard for his Jag as I remember. My sympathies and condolences to the family, especially Jeremy.
